Colorado Elevated Experiences for Mother’s Day
is a wonderful time to plan a memorable experience as a gift for Mother’s Day, which is on Sunday May 11th. Curate a thoughtful day planned around Mom, from picnics in the park to concerts to an exciting day on the river.
Picnic in the Park
Stop by Le Frigo in Boulder for fine cheeses, salami, crackers, and pate. For a full takeaway meal, Le French has delicious salads, quiches, paninis, or baguette sandwiches to build a gourmet picnic. Head to Greenleaf Park or one of Boulder’s 60 public parks to relax in the Colorado sunshine and enjoy lunch al fresco.
In the Vail Valley, visit All the Good Stuff in Edwards for an array of seasonal produce, cheeses, chocolates or create a customized basket of goodies. Pop into Vintage Magnolia in the Riverwalk and browse their selection of sustainably crafted goods: candles, body care, jewelry, and home decor. Make sure to include a bouquet or potted plant from their renowned team of florists, and enjoy a lavish picnic by the river.

Sports + Outdoors
For a sports-loving Mom, take her out to the ballgame! The Colorado Rockies have a full schedule of home games which will make for a memorable day at the ballpark. Before the first pitch, enjoy lunch or dinner at Marco’s Coal Fired in LoDo. Start with the Limoncello chicken wings and Mele Fresca Salad before enjoying their renowned pizza, either a house specialty like the Toscana or Hell’s Kitchen or create your own.
With locations in Highlands Ranch and West Littleton, Epic Pickleball Club offers indoor courts, league play, and special events with a full service bar. Reserve a court and enjoy some pickleball with Mom.

For the aspiring angler, book a guided trip with Dragonfly Anglers in Crested Butte. Their guides can share tips on casting, mending, and which flies to use in various conditions. Learn how to prepare appetizers and canapes and pair them with wine. The classes feature a minimum of 12 dishes inspired by the restaurant menu along with 10 wines, and summer classes will take place on the garden patio with an emphasis on grilled dishes.

Music + Arts
If your Mom loves seeing live music, treat her to an unforgettable concert together. Giacomo Puccini’s Madama Butterfly will be at the Pikes Peak Center on May 17th and 18th. Guests have the opportunity to go behind the curtain and inside the score with 30-minute pre-concert conversations, one hour before the concert starts with the Philharmonic Pre-Concert Talks.
The Crested Butte Center for the Arts hosts Cocktail Seminar: The Tipsy Typewriter, an evening of cocktails inspired by the masters of the written word. Sip the Hemingway Daiquiri, Fitzgerald Fizz, and Poe Punch—each crafted with flavors as bold and nuanced as the writers themselves. Learn the history, techniques, and tales behind these iconic drinks while enjoying a lively, bookish toast to the festival ahead. Cheers to words, rum, and well-made cocktails!

If she loves comedy, get tickets to the performance by Amy Poehler and Tina Fey at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheater. Or take in stunning views of the Dillon Reservoir while watching a show by St Paul and the Broken Bones and the Wood Brothers at the Dillon Amphitheater.
Pottery Painting + Candle Making
With young children, a fun activity is to paint a keepsake piece of pottery to gift Mom. At Ceramics in the City, young artists can select a piece of unpainted pottery to decorate and paint. After it’s completed, their team will glaze and fire it for you to pick up about a week later. Paints, brushes, and tools are included in the cost, and prices range from $15 -$75 per item.
Ready Paint Fire in Breckenridge hosts painting classes as well as candle making experiences. Reserve a time at the Candle Bar to create a signature candle after the bartender guides you through options for fragrance, melting wax, and more. Plan on about 75 minutes to create your candle, but your seat at the bar is yours for a couple of hours. Prices begin at $30.

The Vail Valley’s Alpine Arts Center has the option to drop in anytime during regular business hours for art activities such as painting, crafts, sculpture, pottery wheel, and mixed media. For standard drop-in studio use, a per person fee of $15 for two hours will be charged, plus materials. They’re also hosting a Mother’s Day cupcakes & canvas event on May 11th to paint a cherry blossom scene while enjoying a mimosa and cupcakes.
Whether your Mom would appreciate a day of sports, music, a picnic in the park, or a cooking class, make sure to treat her to a special day to show her how much you appreciate her and everything she’s done for you.
